About our department
The Department of Mathematics at TU Darmstadt has eight research groups covering many areas of mathematics. We are well connected to other research groups both nationally and internationally.
Locally, we have various cooperations with other universities in the Rhine-Main area and offer a wide range of lectures for our students with our Bachelor's and Master's degree programs.
Your tasks

The Department of Mathematics at Technical University of Darmstadt invites applications for several (non-permanent) qualification positions as Research Assistants in part-time or full-time with fixed-term employment contracts. Prior to an application we ask applicants to contact the named department member. Applications will only be considered if the relevant research area is specified in the application.

We are looking for applicants who would like to gain academic qualification in one of the following areas:

  • Mathematical Modeling and Analysis, in particular modeling/numerics of two-phase flows/transport phenomena at fluid interfaces (Prof. Bothe) - 1 full-time position (100%)
  • Mathematical logic, preferably with research interests in model-theoretic methods, finite or algorithmic model theory (Prof. Otto) – 1 full-time position (100%) - Postdocs only
  • Discrete Optimization, in particular combinatorial optimization (Prof. Disser) – 1 part-time position (75%)
  • Mathematical Statistics (Prof. Kohler) – 1 full-time position (100%)
  • Mathematical logic,graph structure theory - preferably with interest in graph classes, parameters and decompositions (Prof. Hatzel) – 1 full-time position (100%)
Your profile
Your profile:
  • University Science Degree (M.Sc.or equivalent) in mathematics or a related subject with final grades above average,
  • interest in research and teaching (primarily in German).

In case of applicants with an outstanding completed PhD, the position can be a Research Associate/Postdoc position, leading to further academic qualifications through scientific publications and cooperations. In this case, the period of contract is, initially, 2 years and the position aims at qualification for an Assistant Professorship or for a further postdoc phase.
